I recieved a fotopage email saying I had a private message...a link was included to view it. The link took me to my account page that said "no private messages"...and by signing on to fp I got the same Smile Fotopage glitch or my ISP?

Thanks
Judith

I too have had this happen. If I had to guess, I'd say it's just like any other form of communication. Sometimes the machine at the post office mangles that letter instead of delivering it. Sometimes your phone doesn't work for whatever reason. Many times emails get sidetracked by spam filters and server failures and routing bottlenecks. You've seen how busy fotopages gets so that sometimes the system runs v-e-r-y slow.

With my background in computer hardware and software, I just assume it's something with miscommunication when adding a record to the database or lost packets in transit and more often it's the exception rather than the rule. Sometimes there's just too many of us trying to use something that has limits and it just doesn't work but mostly it does.

But that's just my best guess....

hmm. Could it be that you have more than one Fotopage?
If so, you need to first log into the other account Big green

I do have more than one fotopages account, BUT at the time this occurred, I only had one. I use two different email addresses for the accounts so that I can tell which one I need to be logged into based on who the email is addressed to and rather than staying logged in all the time now I click the logout button when I leave fotopages.

I really didn't think much of the lost message when it happened. I had a good idea of who it was from and we were able to exchange the information that was lost. I've learned that nothing works 100% all the time so it was no big deal. I'm trying very hard not to look for perfection everywhere as when I do I find I am usually disappointed.

I think for the amount of users you have and the price you charge, FREE Big green , fotopages does a great, great job and I recommend it to all my friends and family who don't have the skills and the software to set up their own sites to post pictures.

Had you already read the private message BEFORE the e-mail ever arrived? If so, there wouldn't be any new messages when you use the link in the e-mail. Wink

Nope, I also had not read the message, but the information was obtained through subsequent contact with the sender.

I also hate to be outwitted by machines, but they were made by imperfect humans and, as such, are imperfect themselves. If only I could CTRL+ALT+DELETE my life sometimes...
