Last week I spent most of my time in central Portugal doing something pre-historic men did 7000 years ago.
This is the menhir of Barrocal, a 5,7 meters stone with a weight of about 16 tons. It was originally cut from a nearby granity rock (around 300 meters) and erected in a clearing. It has some carvings of pre-historic art.
With time the monolith slowly fell down has earthquakes and erosion destroyed it's fundings.
Last February it was taken out of place by some guy in a heavy machinery, so after an archeological work on the site, it was time to re-erect the ancient monument.
So we thought about doing it like pre-historic men would do it, with rocks, ropes and a lot of people.
I participated on this work and was unnable to take photos, but I found a website wich shows how the works on the 1st day went.

I will later complete this topic with updates of what hapenned this past days. _________________ http://metal-devil.fotopages.com |
